ADHD and Chemsex Addiction

Let me be vulnerable with you:

I've discovered lately that I sometimes invalidate the experiences of others.

And if you follow my content, you'll know how much I've advised you not to invalide the experience of others.

Because, what we judge becomes our karma (our learning opportunity).

In other words, whatever or whoever you are pointing your finger at is exactly where you could use healing.

And, well, I've been pointing my finger at people who identify as having ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).

I admit that I've based my opinion about the disorder on a close friend of mine. That's some serious projection.

And it isn't fair to you out there living with ADHD.

Today's podcast will explain more about what I mean and my observations about ADHD treatment.

As always, my friend and supervisor, Daniel Gilsenan helped me shift my perspective. And later, as I reflected on our converation I realized that I had been narrow-minded and judgy.

This is why I love doing this work. I learn so much about myself in the process.

And I hope you learn something new after listening to the podcast this week!

When struggling with addiction, many people also experience symptoms that align with ADHD, such as impulsivity, difficulty focusing, and emotional regulation challenges.

Research shows that 14-23% of individuals with substance use disorders also meet the criteria for ADHD.

Understanding these connections provides valuable insights for your recovery journey.

Breaking the Silence of Chemsex
Alexander's story reveals the difference between those who can navigate substance use safely and those who cannot. This often comes down to a mysterious internal voice - what he describes as "luck" but what we might better understand as intuitive self-awareness. This voice whispers warnings when we approach dangerous territory, but hearing it requires cultivation and courage. This internal w...
Everyone Else is Partying, But I Can't
It's mid-July, and your Instagram feed looks like a highlight reel of everything you used to think you were missing.  Shirtless men at circuit parties in Mykonos. Pride celebrations that stretch from Thursday to Tuesday. Festival lineups that make my former party-self salivate with envy. And here you sit, meth-free, watching it all unfold from the sidelines of your transformed life. If you'r...
Turning Your Pain Into Purpose
Ben Kaye's story demonstrates that recovery isn't just about stopping substance use—it's about transforming your pain into purpose and your experience into expertise. As a therapist with lived experience in chemsex recovery, Ben has spent years building bridges between the underserved and the systems meant to help them. His journey from London's party scene to becoming a recognized advocate sh...
