Holiday Recovery Safety Plan

Building Your System for Success Through Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Year's

Your Information

Let's start with the basics so we can keep this plan personalized and get you the support you need.

Your Safety Network

These are your lifelines. Make sure these contacts know they're on your emergency list.

Important: Share this plan with at least one person from your safety network.

Understanding Your Vulnerability

Honest reflection is the foundation of a strong plan. There's no judgment here.

1 - Very Confident 5 - Moderate Risk 10 - Extremely Vulnerable

Danger Zone Mapping

Let's identify the specific times when you're most at risk. This is about being strategic, not fearful.

Be specific: "Christmas week" is less useful than "December 24th evening after family dinner" or "December 26th - the letdown after Christmas."

Your Protection Schedule

This is where you build your system. Schedule activities that protect you during vulnerable times. The goal is to leave no gaps where relapse can sneak in.

Strategy: For every high-risk period you identified, schedule something protective. This could be: support meetings, check-ins with your coach, time with safe friends, volunteer work, exercise, creative projects, or even just a planned phone call.

Your Boundary System

These are the non-negotiable rules and safeguards that remove the option to relapse. We're not relying on willpower here - we're making relapse structurally difficult.

When Triggers Hit: Your Action Plans

Triggers and cravings are normal. Having a specific plan for each removes the need to make decisions in the moment.

Your Relapse Early Warning System

These are the subtle signs that show up before a relapse. Catching them early is key.

Your Why: Staying Connected to What Matters

When things get hard, this is what you'll come back to.
